Now we are into the rewiring and assembly phase. This can be interesting, tedious, easy, boring, mindbending, stressful, and fun at different times. My dilemmas were usually: a.. A 1977 car has some difficult to find parts. Only the antique British Car parts stores carry these items. b.. Most of the rubber edging around windows, doors, and shock mounts are deteriorated, thus need replacing. c.. Documentation is not detailed in all areas. This was disassembled four years ago, so which parts go where? d.. Some wiring has brittle or damaged insulation, thus needs replacing. e.. The wiring diagrams are confusing when not laid out by operation sections. Very hard to follow.
This is just the Engine harness, with some bad wires and many unmarked terminals.
Here is what we call a "Rats Nest" of wires. This is only from the Engine and Instruments. Later, the Lighting and Accessories were added, that doubled what you see.
Getting it all sorted took weeks. Some failures fried a few parts, so I reorganized with my own design of adding terminal strips and fuse panels to all Engine and Lighting wires.
The Engine area was restructured with two 4-wire harnesses for the lights, and my custom harness for Ignition, Alternator and sensors.
