Shell Island Cruise - It's been 4 years since this has been on the schedule, so we thought it's time to bring it back. A 3 hour narrated, educational cruise from St. Andrews Bay to Shell Island - perfect for all ages. Guides will pull crab traps and fish traps and feed the birds. Cost of the trip includes an all-beef hot dog lunch with chips and drink, or you can bring your own sack lunch. (no coolers) The boat has an air-conditioned cabin so you can choose to stay on board while docked at Shell Island if you wish. The boat has been chartered for our group alone. Cost: $16 per person - age 3 and up (no cost for age 2 and under)

“Hillbilly Hoedown” Family Dance - Plan now to bring your hillbilly costume and join in the fun of this themed family dance. A professional square dance caller has been hired to entertain us for the evening. All ages, from children to seniors, will be able to learn a variety of circle, square and line dances as the caller leads us through the steps. A variety of music will be played throughout the evening. This dance is sure to be tons of fun and one where everyone can participate. Cost: None.

Family Day at the Beach - This will be one last afternoon of fun in the sun before leaving for home. Bring your beach chairs, umbrella, beach towels, cold drinks, Frisbees, footballs and other beach games to enjoy with everyone. There are no organized games planned - we’re leaving the fun up to you! You can sun bathe, float on a raft, build a sand castle or just relax and visit with friends. Cost: None.

Tabernacles of Leviticus 23:23-45

This first day of the lunar month starts with Rosh Hashanah the blowing of trumpets on the new moon to announce the beginnings of ten days of repentance. (Sept 13, 2015)

The tenth day of the month is Yom Kippur the Day of Atonement, the solemn Day of Judgment of the people by God each year. This day requires a fasting and offering, when sins are cleansed and cast off to start anew when repented. The cleansing and reconciliation is made by the priest for the people by an offering where one goat is sacrificed and one is released into the wilderness, carrying the sins of the people. (Sept 23, 2015)

Sukkot is the Feast of Tabernacles or Feast of Booths for people to commune for an eight day reunion and feasts of the fall harvest. Beginning the 15th day of the lunar month, the people are to live in booths for this festival as was done in the 40 years after Exodus. Gathering and camping and living together in close proximity with a large group rejoicing their repentance and God's presence with feasts and ceremonies. This is the time each year when God assigns his blessings and protection to those who appear before him. (Sukkot 2015 is Sept 28 to Oct 6)

My 2014 Sukkot was with SOJ in Missouri, very nice but cold, so this year is on the beach. In all my memories of Sukkot, there is always a storm in the middle of the week. I would say expect it; it brings people together. Then enjoy the rest of the week with new friends.
